My wife and I have three sons and "daughters" and 16 grandchildren! "And this we know in our journey of life, whether green rolling hills or the desert bare and dry; in all things God works for our good, for those who love the Lord."

Calvary Baptist in Cowpens celebrates 50 years!
Cowpens Calvary Baptist Church celebrates its 50th anniversary on Sunday, October 11th.
God planted this church in 1965 and used my dad and mom, Gene and Martha Franklin, to be the first pastor (for 20 years) Starting in a small store-front building on Main St, we could seat about 60 people. We used the house next door where we lived for Sunday School classrooms.
I remember the teens met in our living room, another class in the den and another class in the kitchen. In 1972 my parents bought their home near I-85 and the church moved into this house for worship services. The living room with two bay windows was huge and could seat about 80 people or more when full.
In the early 1970's the first church building was built debt free, and around 2002 the current church building was built (pics below)
The church dedicated the first building at left as the "Franklin Fellowship Hall" a few years ago.
