Our next grandson is due any day now. Janelle had an ultrasound on Monday to make sure the baby was turned the correct way.  

Amazing what they can see with ultrasound now.

video - music by a young trumpet prodigy

Just watched this video of an 8 year old trumpet prodigy, Geoffrey Gallante - it was recorded at a performance in 2008.  I must admit as a teacher of brass students, I did not expect to hear this quality of a trumpet sound in such a young boy.  Most kids start playing brass in 5th and 6th grade and progress a little more each year.  Enjoy!

It was a cold Sunday in Jacksonville last week and Charlie wanted to wear his great-grandpa's hat (my dad's fedora) - and look at the smile on Haley Grace's face!  

basement remodel

Thanks to "accidental water flooding" in the corner of our basement, our homeowners insurance paid to repair and replace most of the carpet in the basement.  We had some work done this week to replace the damaged ceiling tiles and the basement door.  The carpet will be installed Tuesday.  We are very thankful this did not happen when our house was full Christmas week! Here are some photos of the progress - I will post some after photos next week.

Duke's Ryan Kelly scores 36 points in 32 minutes!

Love the headline in Sunday's AJC! "Blue Devils, Kelly put their foot down."  After being humiliated in January by Miami, the Dukies were determined to NOT lose on their home court.  With the Cameron Crazies there to boost them, and the "game of the ages" by Ryan Kelly, Duke won the game 79-76.  Both teams turned the ball over in the last few seconds, and the game almost went into overtime. But Miami missed their last two shots and the Dukies won a big game.  Now keep in mind, the AJC does not always include the Duke games in the sports section of the paper, but this week it was the "Game of the Day"! 

And what about Ryan Kelly? In his first game since being injured on January 8th, he scored a career high 36 points. Even Coach K was amazed - Ryan scored 36 points in 32 minutes of play.
