our nation begins a four year observance


Last week on April 12th, our nation began a four-year observance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.  Re-enactors from around the country were in Charleston, SC last week at Fort Sumter.  The first shots of the War between the States took place here on April 12, 1861.   There will be many "special anniversary" re-enactments during the next for years.  The biggest and the one most people are looking forward to is the Battle of Gettysburg in July of 2013.

The events re-creating the siege of Fort Sumter began the four-year national observance of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War.
While it is hard to understand all of the reasons "why" this war took place, with brother fighting against brother, we must always learn from history or else history may repeat itself.
