My wife and I have three sons and "daughters" and 16 grandchildren! "And this we know in our journey of life, whether green rolling hills or the desert bare and dry; in all things God works for our good, for those who love the Lord."

Now we know what a YURT is! We visited Fort Yargo State Park about 30 mins. from home today. They have yurt's that can be rented for a two or more nights to camp out in at this park.
Good article about the Braves two 21-year old players (and best friends) Jason Heyward and Freddie Freeman. Also some nice words about the new manager Fredi Gonzalez and Chipper Jones, who is the oldest Braves player now as he turns 39 in April. Gonzalez is quoted recently as saying "Chipper Jones IS the Atlanta Braves!" Should be a good year for BRAVES baseball.

I knew it was a matter of time that Kyle Singer would come out of his slump, a two game slump. One of the best college ball players, Singler scored 2 points in his last game but Weds night he was back in his game scoring 28 points. As one headline reads, Duke crushes Temple 78-61 (click to read more) Duke crushes Temple
Thanks to high gas prices, our food prices are set to skyrocket, if the news media is correct. Our Walmart gas price was $3.15 this morning when I left for work, and $3.25 tonight when I came back home from work! On the way to church tonight I noticed the Kroger gas was still $3.15 so with my 10 cent discount card, I filled up for $3.05 after church. Just seems strange because Walmart gas is usually 10-20 cents cheaper than the other gas stations. Hmmmm, I smell price gouging at the pump!
The Civil War or War between the North and South began in 1861, 150 years ago. Picture above depicts scenes from the battle of Dallas, Georgia. See the link below to CivilWar.org/battlefields which is a great research tool for those who might want to visit some of these locations in the next few years. The battlefield pages combine photos, history and more. The site map is interactive and you can click on the state and then the battle you want to view.
Finally after hanging out at the no.5 spot for a few weeks, the Dukies are back where they belong, at the no. 1 spot in both the AP and Espn Coaches polls. Out of the top 5 teams, Duke was the lone survivor last week winning both games and Duke has been no. 1 for 11 weeks out of the season.
Georgia Tech traveled to Durham to play Duke on Sunday night. They kept it a close game most of the first half, even leading Duke for a time. But at about the 5 minute mark, the Dukies went on a run and ended the half with a good lead. Final score: Duke 79, Georgia Tech 57
Next game for Duke is Weds night against a non-conference opponent, the Temple University Owls at 7 PM on ESPN.

Jesse was Cindy's Great-Great Grandfather on her father's side of the family. Mildred (Mam-ma) Baggett's brother Jesse Gibson (Uncle Bo) Franks was named after Mr. Kindrick. Cindy's Uncle Kelsea Kindrick Baggett was also named for him.

In a low scoring game last night, the Dukies pulled out a win over Virginia 56-41, and Nolan Smith still managed to score 22 points. Virginia seemed to take all 35 seconds to take a shot each time they had the ball but the shots would go in and back out, over and over. So the pace of the game was a lot slower than Duke usually plays their game. But a win is a win is a win!
Wishing you a happy 15th birthday! Hope you have a great day! Erica is pictured with her brother Austin and Dad(Preston)

There were a couple of stories in the news last week that caught my attention. I think they both deserve mentioning as "Inspiring stories for a Monday!" However the news story I am posting this week is:
Wake Forest baseball coach Tom Walter donated a kidney to sick Demon Deacons player Kevin Jordan.
Kevin's own family members did not have a matching kidney. But when his coach found out about the need, he checked into donating one of his kidneys, which turned out to be a match. You have to be inspired by the action of Coach Walter.
As for Jordan, he hopes to get close to full strength by the summer, in time to hone his considerable skills during fall scrimmages. Then, next February, he can get started on his college career — a year behind schedule, but with a new sense of purpose. ‘‘I’ll do whatever coach asks me to do,’’ said Jordan, who was drafted by the New York Yankees last summer. ‘‘If he wants me to get a bunt down, whatever, I can’t see myself saying no to anything.
