It was a cold Sunday in Jacksonville last week and Charlie wanted to wear his great-grandpa's hat (my dad's fedora) - and look at the smile on Haley Grace's face!  

basement remodel

Thanks to "accidental water flooding" in the corner of our basement, our homeowners insurance paid to repair and replace most of the carpet in the basement.  We had some work done this week to replace the damaged ceiling tiles and the basement door.  The carpet will be installed Tuesday.  We are very thankful this did not happen when our house was full Christmas week! Here are some photos of the progress - I will post some after photos next week.

Duke's Ryan Kelly scores 36 points in 32 minutes!

Love the headline in Sunday's AJC! "Blue Devils, Kelly put their foot down."  After being humiliated in January by Miami, the Dukies were determined to NOT lose on their home court.  With the Cameron Crazies there to boost them, and the "game of the ages" by Ryan Kelly, Duke won the game 79-76.  Both teams turned the ball over in the last few seconds, and the game almost went into overtime. But Miami missed their last two shots and the Dukies won a big game.  Now keep in mind, the AJC does not always include the Duke games in the sports section of the paper, but this week it was the "Game of the Day"! 

And what about Ryan Kelly? In his first game since being injured on January 8th, he scored a career high 36 points. Even Coach K was amazed - Ryan scored 36 points in 32 minutes of play.

Yep, I miss Paul Harvey, too. This was neat to watch the Dodge Ram Super Bowl commercial featuring the voice of Paul Harvey. If you missed it, I am posting the video below. I remembering listening to Paul Harvey's radio broadcast every day after lunch when I was in college. He made famous two sayings "And now the rest of the story.." and the other was for commercial breaks - "And now, page 2 .... "

We stopped to look at antiques last week on the way back from Social Circle. The former Monroe Cotton Mill has been converted into an antique mall. Walking in the building brought back a lot of memories, not just the antiques but also the memories of my family members that worked most of their lives in the cotton mill industry.

Our youngest son was born 32 years ago today! I chose some favorite photos of Brandon with his sons, friends, and wife and family today. Happy Birthday! At left is our baby Brandon in 1981. Yes, we called him "Baby Brandon" until he was about five years old. So many memories are pressed between the pages of our minds!
