Tracing our roots ... my sister found the headstone of our great-grandmother in Shelby, NC.  Martha E. Hicks Franklin, the wife of John Gather Franklin is buried in the Zoar Baptist Church Cemetery.  J. G. Franklin died in 1914 and is buried at the High Shoal Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresboro, NC.  After his death, Martha moved to Shelby, NC.  John Gather and Martha E. Hicks Franklin are the parents of Charles Clinton Franklin; who is the father of my dad.
