singing the songs about Heaven

We had a wonderful service Sunday night as our choir presented "Going Home." The program featured a one-person drama (who lived in Paradise, Kentucky) and the reading of the poem "Go Down Death" - written by James Weldon Johnson. Morris Kent has a voice comparable to James Earl Jones and did so well reading the poem. Our choir sang many songs that look forward to our heavenly home. Several were arranged for choir, men's ensemble and ladies ensemble by Becky Bonam. Since we began working on this program in June, the choir members had been looking forward to this program.

Songs from the program included:

"When I Get to Heaven, I Will Sing" -full choir
"Finally Home" - ladies choir
"Sweet Beulah Land" - mens quartet
"Life is Like a Mountain Railroad" - choir
"Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" - piano solo by Becky Bonam
"I Shall Know Him" - Nikki Finch
"Going Home" - Rob Finch
"Wayfaring Stranger" - choir
"O That Will Be Glory" - choir
"Mansion Over the Hilltop" - mens choir
"These Are They" - mixed quartet
"No More Night" - choir

To quote Pastor Sweatt from Sunday morning, "Sometimes we need to forget all about the nasty now and now, and take time to think about the sweet bye and bye."
