Georgia's coach on a mission

This past Sunday, the AJC headlined their sports section with an article about the faith of Georgia's coach Mark Richt.  A reporter from the newspaper followed along with Coach Richt and his wife as they traveled on a mission trip to the Honduras.   It was a well written article and discussed many aspects of the coach's life that I did not know.  While an assistant coach for Bobby Bowden at FSU,  Mark Richt became a Christian and was led to the Lord by Coach Bowden himself.  What a great testimony of Coach Bowden.

We found out this week that Josh and Janelle are having another boy!  Congrats to all!  And this will be our 9th grandchild when he is born in October, and our 4th grandson.   We are happy and excited for them and pray that the rest of Janelle's pregnancy will be a smooth one.

34 years ago today! Saturday June 4, 1977

Seems like "only yesterday" but the big day was 34 years ago on Saturday, June 4th, in the year 1977! Our wedding took place in the Philips Chapel of the Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN. It was a beautiful venue with the pipe organ, and Dr. J.R. Faulkner performed the ceremony -and at the last minute I might add because Dr. Lee Roberson forgot to put the date on his calendar!  But we were just as happy with Dr. Faulkner and impressed that he could do this on short notice for us.   The picture of us cutting the cake above with our good friend Sophie Economidis serving us.  This picture is definitely worth a thousand words - just thinking of the wedding rehearsal in the morning, the reheasal picnic in the afternoon heat, and then an evening wedding - all in one day!
